The Story

So where do i begin this story. I had been searching for a Syncro for some time. A cheap one. While perusing Craigslist one day (it’s a daily ritual) I spied a Vanagon in upstate Pennsylvania. It was part of a yard sale. It was being  sold along with camping gear and bicycles. After a few emails back in forth with the owners  Karen and Dave, I discovered the Vanagon was actually a 1987 sunroof Syncro. Needless to say the negotiations started. After a bevy of photographs being tossed back and forth, I noticed  a sizable  amount of rust and negotiated them down to 950.00 dollars. Weeks passed as I tried to figure out how to now get this piggy bank raider to Pittsburgh. Violet (that’s her given moniker) was 8 hours away. I thought about taking a friend and trying to get her running on the spot, and carefully driving her back to the burgh. But after  figuring out gas and meals and time, I decided to have her transported by Rite-Way Auto Transport. They were awesome and Violet arrived to me  a bit scarred but unscathed from the journey.

So now I begin this blog. I shall begin the journey of making this fairly rusted non running sunroof syncro into a presentable functional utilitarian vehicle.

I hope you enjoy.
